In our crafts class, we have explored many different craft ideas from which we selected a few of interest to our class, keeping various things in mind e.g. skill involved ,time,recycling,cost and finished product etc. We started with jewellery and "funky hats" this term. We are making jewellery with newspaper; which is folded, varnished and then threaded onto fishing wire or elastic. This is an excellent way to recycle and is very cost effective. we are also making some jewellery using various types of beads including bugle beads, seed beads, glass and pearl beads. these are then threaded onto metal wire. So far, we have made a variety of bracelets and necklaces.The hats were made using fleece which was machine sewn. This was a big challenge to us as many of us had very little experience if any of sewing. The hats are made to suit both children and teenagers. we had a Craft day in Donegal Town before christmas where we displayed and sold our crafts.
