Community Involvement 

 

After a long time of thinking about what we should do, we decided to do seperate things. One of the girls taught young children how to swim. My friend and I decided to volunteer our services in a foster group, every third Saturday,.for the foster children in the area.

The girl who gave swimming lessons, gained invaluable skills involving childcare. She also gained alot of respect from the children and recieved personal fulfiment from teaching young children a skill which they can use in the future, and could possibly one day save their lives, or the lives of others.

My friend and I enjoyed our voluntery work with the foster club. We befriended the children. We found it a brillant experience as we learnt how to deal with children. We are learning many new skills such as, patience and understanding. These things could help us in the future while pursuing careers in childcare. We are extremely happy that we choose this for our community involvement because we are part of a group of little angels.

Another girl helped out with an elderly man and his wife for an hour each week although it was only an hour she felt that every little helps and that she was putting back into the community.She found that doing this community work helped look at different options for her career such as caring nursing .She also felt she was making links with her community.

Another girl decided that she was going to take a small group at her community centre for different sporting games such as badmaintain and basketball also a range of other sports she liked ths alot and she learned alot from it such as that she has good leadership skills and that she has good comunication it also gave her options in her career such as a PE teacher or a fitness instructor
